The magazine display and storage compartment permits the latest issue of a magazine or newspaper to be displayed on a sloping hinged display flap and the older issues to be stored in a compartment arranged therebehind. The compartment is made of various parts which permit adaptation to the depth of a shelf and also to the size of the magazine or newspaper. The hinged display flap (14) can be opened and displaced towards the rear in guide grooves (17), resulting in the compartment being freely accessible at the front. A support plate (7) which can be adjusted in its sloping position is located in the compartment. With the aid of a second plate (7'), which can be fixed under the baseplate (1), the standing area can be adapted to the depth of an existing shelf. Attached to the side walls (5) are metallic clamping clips (6), with the aid of which the compartment can also be held on a shelf located thereabove.
