The corner prism or reflector, for communications laser beam, has a built-in photodiode (12) or a similar light sensor. The diode is located at the truncated corner of the tetragonal reflector and has an objective lens (14) to focus part of the laser beam onto its photoconducting surface (16). The reflector reflects the beam back in the direction from which it came. The reflector is for use in laser beam distance measuring equipment where the beam requires reflecting back to its source and detecting at the same time.
