Sheet collecting equipment for e.g. paper forms - has automatic, sequentially-activated pair of jaws interrupting guided stream of sheets

The collecting equipment is esp. for paper sheets or forms. One end of the construction has a paper feed providing a continuous flow of sheets. A gripping arrangement is selectively operable between the ends of the paper flow path to interrupt the operation. Upper and lower gripping elements are provided at least one of which can be moved towards the other in order to grip at least one sheet in the flow path. These gripping elements operate to prevent sheets reaching the interrupting gripping arrangement. A collector stacks sheets on the other side of the latter. The gripping elements can be a pair of jaws which are automatically, sequentially activated for e.g. numbering of forms.
