PURPOSE:To rotate, turn, and run an image holding body at a prescribed surface movement speed without the variance of driving by providing an image holding body driving means on the cartridge side to freely attach and detach it to and from a device main body. CONSTITUTION:The driving means of the image holding body is provided on the process cartridge side and can be attached to and detached from a process cartridge 20. That is, an ultrasonic motor 60 as a photosensitive drum rotation driving means is attached to the inside surface side of a deep end face plate 21c of a cartridge frame body, and a photosensitive drum 1 as the image holding means incorporated in the process cartridge 20 is directly rotated and driven by the ultrasonic motor 60 as the driving means incorporated in the cartridge. Rotation of a rotor 63, namely, rotation of the photosensitive drum 1 is detected by a rotary encoder 68, and the detection signal is fed back to perform such control that power supply to piezoelectric ceramics 64 of a stator 61, namely, rotation of the photosensitive drum 1 is converged to a prescribed speed. Thus, the image holding body is precisely driven without the variance of rotation. |
