PURPOSE:To always attain an optimum control by selecting a control characteristic map of a transmission, corresponding to a valve action characteristic selecting map selected by a valve action characteristic selecting means, while controlling the transmission being based on this selected control characteristic map. CONSTITUTION:A variable valve timing-lift mechanism VT, which switches the valve action-characteristic of an intake valve to low and high valve action- characteristics, is provided in an engine E, and its rotational output is taken out through an automatic transmission AT controlled by a hydraulic control valve CV. In the case of a power unit thus obtained, a plurality of valve action characteristic selecting maps and a plurality of control characteristic maps, or performing a control of the automatic transmission corresponding to these selecting maps, are provided in a control unit CU. A control characteristic map is selected corresponding to the selected valve action characteristic selecting map, and the automatic transmission AT is controlled being based on the selected control characteristic map. |
