<p>A beater mill, esp. for distintegrating agricultural produce, comprises, a beater rotor revolving in a stationary housing with inlets in one upper quadrant of the housing and outlet further round in the direction of rotation of the rotor. The rotor acts against stationary blades or strips, and the inlet is equipped with a pivoting closure (1) flap, having a pivot axis parallel to that of the rotor. This flap is biassed by a wt. or similar device into an open position giving free passage from the inlet into the casing. In this biased position, the flap projects partly into the revolving stream of distingrated material. In addn., a further pivoting flap (2) is mounted on the side of the inlet remote from the outlet (i.e. the upstream side considered in the direction of rotation); this second pivoting flap is coupled to the first flap in such a way that, when the first flap (1) is swung out o fits biased position, the second flap swings to project into the revolving flow of disintegrated material. Conversely, when the first flap is in its biased position, the second flap is swung out of the flow of revolving material. Used esp. for pulping agricultural produce for use as animal feedstuffs. The additional flap gives an overall increased adjustment range, greater accuracy of adjustment and speed of adjustment, to meet he requirements of different types f crops, different humidity etc. Partic. the appts. is suitable for operating on farms, where mechanical maintenance personnel are not readily available.</p> |
