1526838 Mounting clutch discs on hubs AUTOMOTIVE PRODUCTS Ltd 26 Nov 1976 [10 Dec 1975] 50701/75 Heading F2U In a friction clutch driven disc assembly, an annular plate 17, staked fast on a hub member 15, has outwardly projecting portions 31 which co-operate with pins 32 riveted to a friction face carrier disc 12, thereby providing end stops for limited relative rotary motion, and helical spring members 38 are loosely located upon riveted bosses 35, the spring end tangs 39, 41 being in abutment against pins 34 carried by plate 17 and also in abutment with rollers 33 mounted on the pins 32. Disc 12 is thereby returned to a central orientation relatively to the hub plate 17, in the absence of torque. Transmission of torque causes each pin 32 to deflect an adjacent spring tang 39 or 41 through changing angles of inclination relatively to a radial line. thus causing progressively increasing resistance to further deflection. In other embodiments, the pins 32, 34 may be replaced by members of non-circular crosssection, or alternatively replaced by members shiftable radially by centrifugal action, thereby modifying the relationship between torque and angular deflection.
|
