Liq. manure (I) is metabolised to proteins using microorganisms by (a) subjecting (I) to enzymatic attack with pancreatic, bacterial or fungal protease or tripsinogens at neutral pH, (b) inoculating the (I) resulting from (a) with a massive culture of >=1 first Hyphomycetes selected from Ascomycetes and micro-algae and fermenting at pH 3-7.5, (c) sepg. a protein-rich sludge from (b), (d) re-inoculating (I) remaining after (c) with a second strain of Ascomycetes and micro-algae and aerobically fermenting at pH 3-7.5 and (e) sepg. a second protein-rich sludge fraction from the (I) in (d) leaving purified water suitable for fertilising irrigation. The process produces agriculturally-useful products which are disease-free cheaply. The protein component, mineral salts, disinfectants and antibiotics produced in the course of metabolism are mullified in (a) and accelerate the process overall. Use of the products of depolymsn. or dextrinisation of the starches recovered during the process to equilibriate the nutrient factors of the microflora reduces costs of adding extra carbohydrate (since these are no longer assimilable by the epiphytic microflora present in (I). Costs are also reduced because the lactic acid produced during the process can be used to regulate the pH instead of other acids. |
