The quick release safety belt coupling fastens the belt end to a pivoting anchorage block and includes a compensating mechanism which ensures a nominal release force whatever the traction through the coupling. In detail the coupling has an elongated tongue (P) which enters a socket in the anchorage unit to be retained by a basculing bolt (9, 10, 15). The bolt is of 'H' form in long section and rotates about a transverse axle (12) through the intersection of, say, the right hand leg and the bar (10). The inside basal face (14) of the left leg retains the strap tongue (P) and a laterally slidable bar (19) bears on the top (16) of this leg to form secondary retention. A traction force (F) through the coupling causes a couple which promotes release. This couple is resisted by the secondary retaining bar (9) which is slid away to effect release.
|
