<p>1471271 Wire stripper THOMAS & BETTS CORP 22 April 1975 [24 April 1974] 16568/75 Heading H2C In a pliers-type wire stripper closure of the jaws is limited by interaction of a cam means, coupled to one jaw, and an engaging means coupled to a second jaw, the cam means is movable along its jaw to predetermined positions. In one embodiment the cam means 44 is slidable along a leg 40 joined to a jaw 26, a tooth 66 engaging in a rack to locate the means. Engaging means 56 coupled to the other jaw 24 engages with the cam to limit closure, a scale on the leg indicating the cam position for a particular wire gauge. In other embodiments the cam slides in a rail on the jaw and is located in a rack by a spring- biased ball (Figs. 11-13, not shown). The jaws may also be lockable in the closed position.</p> |
