The equipment consists of a draw press (1) in which a metal ingot (10) is placed. A ram (11) extrudes a metal strand (2) through a draw plate (12). At certain distances from the draw plate are placed pairs of rollers (3) (31) (32) which are driven at a synchronised speed and hydraulic jacks (5) (51) (52) regulate the pressure exerted on the strand. After forming the wire is wound onto a bobbin (6). The rollers operate at a speed higher than the speed of egress of the strand from the draw plate producing a slight reduction in the strand diameter by striction and the pressure of the rollers produces a further reduction in diameter by crushing.
