The machine tool is used for cutting threads and has a sine bar for adjusting the pitch of the thread to be cut. The angle of the sine bar is adjusted by means of a micrometer, supplied with the machine. The cutting tool (6) and holder (7) slides on a transversal carriage (5), this being supported on a longitudinal carriage (4). A bracket (19) on this longitudinal carriage carries the sine bar (15) and its control slide (18), the assembly forming part of the moving slide (3). The micrometer (20) has a threaded shaft (27) sliding, but not rotating, and actuating a block (24) in a slot (23) in the sine bar.
