Joining of concrete blocks - by casting second block round reinforcing wire protruding from metal sleeve in first block

The concrete block (7) is provided with a reinforcing wire (5) which is screwed into a metal sleeve (8) so that the end of the sleeve is flush with the surface (12) of the block. The outer end of the sleeve has an enlarged bore to receive the end of the reinforcing wire (10) which is fixed in the sleeve (8) with quick setting concrete. The next section of concrete (9) can then be cast around the reinforcing wire. When casting a concrete block between two existing blocks the wires of each existing block are joined by two sleeves which screw one inside the other and the intermediate block cast around the joined wires.
