Two sets, each with the same number of rods of equal diameter, are aligned in a groove running along the top of a baseplate. The sides of the groove form an angle of 60. A thrust plate resting flat on the top of the baseplate positions the sets of rods, so that the plane ends of the photoconductive fibres in the gap between any three rods meet up flush with one another in an axial direction. The vertical lines of the generated surfaces of the rods placed at the top in the groove can be at least as high as the plane of the top of the baseplate.
