The clamp secures the main lead of an electrical appliance, in particular that of a television receiver. It prevents the transmission of accidental tensile forces into the apparatus and its terminals. It comprises a single piece injection moulding made up of a lever arm (5) with a latching arrangement (16; 6, 10, 11) at its free end. The lever is joined to the clamp base (1) by integral hinges (6, 7) formed by thinning the moulding in the appropriate areas. A projection (14) on the lever compresses the cable (12) and forces it into the slot formed in the moulding. One side of the slot has serrations or ridges (15) which press into the cable insulation and assist in taking up tensile forces.
