Provided is a liquid crystal display device with improved display quality. The liquid crystal display device includes a surface light source, a lower polarizing plate to be arranged on the surface light source, a liquid crystal layer to be arranged on the lower polarizing plate, a phase difference layer to be arranged on the liquid crystal layer, and an upper polarizing plate to be arranged on the phase difference layer. The lower polarizing plate is a reflective polarizing plate to indicate the characteristic of positive C phase difference and the phase difference layer indicates the characteristic of positive A phase difference. |
