1458078 Flameproofing and dyeing of textiles HOOKER CHEMICALS & PLASTICS CORP 29 May 1974 [29 May 1973] 23815/74 Heading D1B Textile materials comprising cellulose, polyester or a blend thereof are rendered fire retardant by incorporating therein a reaction product of a tetrakis (alphahydroxyorgano) phosphonium halide with ammonia or an amine followed by dyeing with an acid or disperse dye. Cellulose, e.g. cotton which may be blended with synthetic fibres may be treated e.g. with tetrakis (hydroxymethyl) phosphonium chloride followed by curing with ammonia and dyeing with acid dyes. Polyester material was treated as above with fire retardant followed by dyeing with an acid dye. Celluloseacetate and triacetate fibres may also be treated.
