The flooring consists of a top layer of individual tiles or panels, and one or more layers underneath, of tiles of the same size as those above, tiles above and below being combined into single flooring elements separated from each other by elastic joint strips. Each combined element is framed with joint strips round half its perimeter, loosely or firmly connected to it. In the tiles of the bottom layer, at least, there are recesses which widen upwards in cross-section from the base. The joint strips may widen conically towards the bottom of the flooring, over part of their height. The tiles may be of wood, or basically wooden composite materials, with grains of top and bottom layers (if there are three) running one way, and those of the middle layer running transversely. The tops of the joint strips may be lower than the top of the upper layer. |
