The parent patent describes oxadiazole derivs. of formula (I) and their sales: (where R is -(CH2)m-COR1, -CH(CH3)-COR2 or -(CH2)p-N(X1)2; m is 2, 3 or 4; R1 is OH, 1-4C alkoxy or -O-(CH2)n-N(X1)2; n is 1 or 2; X1 is H or 1-4C alkyl; R2 is R1 or is -NH-(CH2)n-COR1; p is 1-4). This addition claims the optically active isomers of oxadiazole derivs. of formula (II) and their salts: (where R2 is R1 or -NH-(CH2)n-COR1; n is 1 or 2; R1 is OH, 1-4C alkoxy or -O-(CH2)n-N(X1)2; X1 is H or 1-4C alkyl). (I) and (II) are respiratory antiinflammatories and peripheral antitussives. They can be used in treatment of coughs, acute and chronic bronchitis, for treating broncho-pulmonary disorders of infectious origin, immunological deficiencies, and acute and chronic bronchial hypersecretion. Doses are e.g. 1-250 mg./day p.o. for humans.
