<p>A method of drying a gas consists of passing the gas into a heat recovery unit and through the exchangers of a number of heat pumps. The gas passes in turn through: a part of the heat recovery unit, where heat is absorbed; n heat exchangers acting as the evaporators of a first, second, ---nth heat pump; a part of the heat recovery unit where the heat is given out; the condensers of the nth, (n-1)th, ---1st heat pump. The condensates are discharge in the gas path, between the evaporator of the nth pump and the part of the recovery unit returning the heat. A plant for carrying out the process includes an enclosure for circulating the gas between an outlet and an inlet of the space contg. the gas, a circulation fan, a heat recovery unit and a number of heat pumps. The invention provides a method and a plant for drying a gas, the energy consumption of which is much less, per unit of vol., than that of existing processes and plants.</p> |
