摘要 1363999 Fuel cell power units SIEMENS AG 9 June 1972 [11 June 1971] 27181/72 Heading H1B An electric power supply unit 10 consisting of a fuel cell battery and its auxiliaries comprises a housing having arranged sequentially therein: a control chamber 11, a supply reservoir 12 for liquid electrolyte, a cooler 13, a pressure lock 14, an electrolyte regenerator 15 and two fuel cell batteries 16, 17. The fuel cell reactants, hydrogen and oxygen, are supplied at inlets 18, 19. Unconsumed gas or gaseous products leave the unit at outlet 20. Water of reaction produced during operation of the batteries 16, 17 may be discharged at outlet 23. Coolant water for the cooler 13 is supplied at 21 and leaves at 22. An electromagnetic valve 24 determines whether the water of reaction extracted from the electrolyte and transported into the pressure lock 14 is either discharged through lines 37, 23 or is returned to the reservoir 12 through lines 37, 25, the valve being controlled by sensors 38, 39 which sense, respectively, the concentration and temperature of the electrolyte in the reservoir. The electrolyte is circulated by a pump 26 from the reservoir 12 through a duct 27 which divides into two ducts 28, 29 and then flows in parallel lines 30 through the batteries 16, 17. The two ducts 31, 32 from the batteries connect into a duct 33 and the electrolyte then flows in parallel paths 35 through the regenerator 15, where the water of reaction is condensed, and through the cooler 13, the electrolyte returning by a duct 36 to the reservoir 12. The water of reaction is transported from the regenerator 15 to the pressure lock 14 by a pressure gas line 57, Fig. 2, connected to the hydrogen inlet 18 through a line 54, manually operated valve 53, electromagnetic valve 55 and a reducing valve 56. In the pressure lock 14 the water of reaction is forced by gas pressure through a liquidpermeable asbestos diaphragm into a liquid chamber and thence passes to the line 37. The oxygen and hydrogen reactants are fed, respectively, to the batteries 16, 17 through lines 52, 66 and 51, 65 controlled by gas-pressure operated valves 59, 58, the unit being started by closing valve 53 manually. At a predetermined pressure in control lines 60, 61 the valves 58, 59 open, a throttle 62 causing delayed opening of oxygen valve 59. When the voltage of the batteries reaches a perdetermined value the valve 55 opens so that valve 53 may be released and the unit then functions automatically. The gas return lines 67, 68 controlled by valves 63, 64 discharge their products through reservoir 12 to remove liquid entrained therein before discharge at outlet 20.
