The throttle valve for steam supply to axial flow turbines, is of the type where blanking sliders are moved in relation to suitably shaped openings in the casing, by some (conventional) means. These sliders are around the inner edge of a ring so located that they can cover the passages between guidevanes in the casing, downstream of them. The ring is mounted on strips which are flexible in the plane perpendicular to the direction of flow only. One end of each strip is fixed to a bracket extending upstream from the casing, the other to one extending downstream from the ring. The arrangement is such that when the valve is closed the strips are straight, in the axial plane of the rotor. The strips are pref. composite, made up from a number of thin steel sheets.
|
