The vibration damper is used for long, vertical building components such as smoke stacks and transmitter masts. It is very compact yet has no telescopic components. It presents a very small area to the wind. The extent of damping is readily adjusted. The vibrating element is a pendulum in friction contact with a component fixed on the structure. The pendulum has a rod and the friction contact component is loosely connected to it. The damping element is a weight which can slide on the friction surface. The damping element has a bore and the pendulum rod reaches into the damping element's bore for connection.
