1498317 Positive clutches TOYOTA JIDOSHA KOGYO KK 5 May 1976 [10 Sept 1975] 18443/76 Heading F2C In a synchronizer in which an axially movable hub 3 has guide pins 13 passing through holes 9 and supporting synchronizing rings 11A and 11B and has thrust pieces 14 passing through holes 10, the thrust pieces moving axially with the hub die to spring pressed balls 17 engaging tapered portions 15, resilient means 26 radially urge the guide pins 13 and thrust pieces 14 to maintain the synchronizer rings 11A, 11B concentric with the axis of the hub 3. The resilient means shown in Figs. 2 and 3 comprises a pair of part circular spring rings 26 having hook portions 27 at their ends engaging the guide pins 13 and raised portions 29 engaging the thrust pieces. End portions 28 of the rings 26 prevent the rings from interferring with the baulking caused by the engagement of shoulders 13a on the pins with the ends 9a of the holes 9. The rings 26 may be axially located by grooves of the thrust pieces 14 and/or the guide pins (Fig. 6, not shown). A single spring ring may be provided (Fig. 7, not shown). The spring rings may be radially outside the guide pins 13 and thrust pieces 14 and bias them inwards (Figs. 8 to 10, not shown). The clutch engagement after synchronization is by teeth 6 of hub 3 engaging teeth 20A or 20B of gear 18A or 18B respectively. |
