Articles (3), for example green bricks, are fed in on a first conveyor belt (1) which consists of a plurality of individual belts guided at a distance from each other. A second conveyor belt (6) which can be raised by means of lifting devices and possesses humps (9) on part of its periphery engages, in the raised state, by means of the humps (9) between the individual belts of the first conveyor belt (1) and accepts a number of articles (3) in each case from the latter. These articles are fed to a third conveyor belt (11) which has a frame (15) that can be lifted, by means of connecting rods (16), into a position in which it directly adjoins the second conveyor belt (6). The third conveyor belt (11) likewise has a plurality of individual belts guided at a distance from each other. These, on entering a lowered position, can pass through between battens (18) on which the articles (3) are then deposited. The device permits the gentle transfer of sensitive articles. <IMAGE>
