An appts. for improving the bond of an extruder coating of polyethylene applied to metal, plastics or paper sheet, comprises a chamber contg. electrodes for producing ozone. The chamber contg. the electrodes is supplied with air at an inlet from which the air flows across the chamber, between the electrodes and out through a nozzle which directs the air in a controlled manner onto the polyethylene film, Pref. the chamber is square, has a central, rotating roll electrode and a number of counter-electrodes fitted to the inner wall faces; the nozzle is a wide slit-shaped nozzle departing from the chamber at a point opposite the air inlet. The nozzle may be annular. The directed applicant. of the ozone onto the polyethylene sheet leads to an improved bond-promoting effect. |
