1489447 Animal feed supplements COMMONWEALTH SCIENTIFIC & INDUSTRIAL RESEARCH ORGANISATION 19 Aug 1975 [19 Aug 1974] 34365/75 Heading A2B A feed supplement for ruminant animals comprises a lower (up to 6 carbons) alkyl ester or salt of a biologically useful aminoacid other than methionine or a lower alkyl ester or a salt of a hydroxy analogue of said amino acids other than methionine. The amino acid may be an essential amino acid or non- essential and may be selected from L-arginine, L-histidine, L-isoleucine, L-leucine, L-phenylalanine, L-threanine, L-tryptophan, L-valine, L-alanine, L-aspartic acid L-asparagine, L- cystine, L-glutamic acid, L-glutamine, L-glycine, L-hydroxyproline, L-proline, L-serine and L-tyrosine, L-thyroxine, L-triiodothyroxine or L-munosine. The supplement may additionally comprise an ester of methionine or of its hydroxy analogue. The supplement may be incorporated in a ruminant feed or lick material or administered orally, in the water or by means of a slow release device which is retained in the rumen. |
