<p>The cutter for a continuously travelling plasterboard web has two contra rotating cutters, each with a radial knife extending the width of the web. The cutters are driven by two independent motors which may be mechanically or electrically powered. They are controlled by an arrangement which synchronises their rotation so that the knives cut the web simultaneously. In addition the speed of the rotors can be controlled depending on the speed of travel of the web so as to compensate any variation in speed. A device can control the motors so that the depth of cut in the material can be varied.</p> |
