<p>Novel moulding compsns. comprise a thermoplastic polymer and reinforcming agent consisting of a mixture of fibrous and non-fibrous inorganic materials. Compsn. may contain polyolefins, styrene (co)polymers, halogen contg. (co)polymers, PVA, poly(meth)acrylates, cellulose esters, polycarbonates, and esp. polyesters and polyamides. Mouldings have high strength and rigidity and excellent dimensional stability coupled with a reduced coefficient of thermal expansion, making them suitable for use in e.g. optical and electrical devices, machine elements, tubes, etc. The mouldings have the smooth and shiny surfaces characteristics of the non-reinforced polymer.</p> |
