<p>An electromagnetic and pneumatic mechanism controls an array of test probes in an automatic electronic circuit testing machine. An array of probes is brought into contact with the required points on the test circuit by pneumatically driven spring mounted pistons. The mechanism consists of three blocks (6) held together by screws (10) and containing respectively an array of electromagnets (7), pneumatic valves (8) and pneumatic cylinders with spring (12) mounted pistons (9). A printed circuit board (20) is mounted below the bottom block and the piston driven test probes (3) protrude through this to make contact, when the electromagnets (7), valves (8) and pistons (9) are actuated, with the circuit (4) under test. Flexible contacts (19) between the test probes (3) and the mechanism printed circuit (20) and a supply cable (22) to that printed circuit are provided.</p> |
