A set of road indicators are based on a standard post for use at the side of the road. The indicators may be fixed or movable. They have an height of 1.40 metre above the level of the road. The standard post consists of an upright set at 1045' to the vertical and faces the motorist. The upright has horizontal black and white, or red and white, stripes. The post has two horizontal bars. One of the bars is set at the bottom of the upright (S) and the other (B1) at the top. The distance between the two bars is 1.40 metre. Each bar has a frontal face of 8 cm by 40 or 50 cm to offer good visibility at 200 metre day or night. The lower bar is set as near as possible to the ground level of the side of the road. The bars are covered with luminescent paint and a row of glass beads. The middle of the upright may have a 'stop' or other indicating sign.
|
