This electric toaster consists of a housing (1) in whose upper surface (2) are long openings (3) for the insertion of bread for toasting. In the housing side walls (4) are slots (5) through which project the ends of the carrier plate (6). This plate slides up and down to admit or eject the bread. Also on the side walls (4) are pivot points (8) on which pivot double armed levers (9). The short lower lever (11) is held against the carrier plate (6) by means of a spring (12). The long upper lever carries on its upper end a closing plate (10). This plate (10) lies beneath the opening (3) while the toaster is in operation. When the carrier plate (6) rises to eject the toast the lower levers are freed so that the closing plate (10) is withdrawn from the opening (3) to allow the toast to be removed.
