<p>N-phosphonomethylglucine (I) is prepd. by oxidising N-(phosphonomethyl) iminodiacetic acid in an aqs. medium in the presence of (a) an oxidising agent (esp. H2O2) or (b) an O2-contg. gas (pref. air or O2) and a catalyst selected from Pd, Pt, Rh, Ir, Ru and Os. Cpd. (I) is useful as a herbicide or plant-growth regulator.</p> |
