Internal combustion engine running on reformed methanol - is connected to reforming reactor and has controlled fuel feed

An i.c. engine to run on reformed methanol is connected to a reforming reactor in which a temp. of 200-800 degrees C is maintained. The fuel feed is controlled to feed in normal operation, gas at a set temp. of =400 degrees C and a press. =50 kgf/cm2. The excess air factor is kept during the engine warm-up to 0.8-1.5 and during normal operation to 0.8-4.0. Ease of operation and working characteristics similar to a petrol engine, is obtd. engine efficiency is satisfactory, and the emission of CO and NOx is reduced.
