<p>The stepping mechanism for typewriters or similar office machine is used for two different kinds of type requiring different spacing. This is achieved with the use of two ratchet tooth rims (4, 5) of the same diameter but having a different number of ratchet teeth (6, 7) spaced equally in each case about the circumference. The complete element (3) is mounted on a support axle (2) and can be swivelled through 180 deg. transverse to the axle line and replaced on the axle. In this way the unit can handle, for example type spaced at ten or twelve to the inch.</p> |
