Fixed or rotating twin nosed cutting tool - produces rough and finish cuts in a single pass

Two cutting tool sections, in one or separate holders, for turning, hobbing or milling cut coarse and fine at a common feed rate. The follower finishing edge is longer than the feed pitch. For continuous swarf peel-off the finisher is raked below or behind the roughing edge. A coarse tool (1) of nose radius (r1), at a depth (a) raises plan section chips (q1) from a feed (S). A finishing tool (2) raises another chip section (q2). The finishing edge length (20) exceeds the feed travel (S). The tools' nose radii (r1), (r2) are centred (b) at less than twice the coarse nose radius (r1). The tools can be multi-stepped, in pairs, or on a single cutter blade.
