Switch points for linear induction suspended train - has guide rail replaced by selectively switched coils at points

The linear induction hovertrain has a non ferrous synchronous linear motor and is supported on two large support rails, one each side of the vehicle. At the switching points the rails are left out and are replaced by sets of separate coils which are selectively switched to control the direction of traction. The central guide coils looped in figure of eight array in the centre of the track are similarly left out in the centre of the points. The system provides a secure and effective switching control, with no drag from the guide rails in the non selected direction. The coils in the non switched direction are merely open circuited by the control.
