The ski brake is fitted directly to the heel grip of a ski safety binding. The heel grip (7) pivots on an axis (1) on the grip housing (12). At the rear of the grip (7) behind the axle (1) is a cam (9) in the form of a bar which can stretch over the width of the ski, or, project out to the sides to connect with the brake rod (4). The brake rod (4) pivots at the top on an axle (6) fitted to the grip housing (12). The top of the brake rod (4) is formed into a head (5) in which is a groove (10) whose shape corresponds with the cam (9) at the rear of the heel grip (7). When the heel grip (7) tips to free the shoe the cam (9) acts with the grooved head of the brake rod (4) to bring the brake into its operating position. In other variations the cam and groove can be replaced by cog teeth, ball joints etc. to achieve the same movement.
|
