1514049 Compositions containing crosslinked orgotein DIAGNOSTIC DATA INC 9 Sept 1976 [9 Sept 1975] 37430/76 Heading A5B [Also in Division C3] A pharmaceutical composition comprises a water-soluble cross-linked orgotein, wherein an orgotein is cross-linked by at least one organic bridging group to at least one molecule of a water-soluble protein in admixture with a pharmaceutically-acceptable carrier. The composition may be in the form for. topical administration or in the form of a sterile, injectable preparation, preferably in an amount of 0.5 to 20mg of cross-linked orgotein, per 0.25 to 10ml; or in the form of an intravenous infusion solution, which preferably comprises 0.5 to 20mg of crosslinked orgotein, per 50 to 1000ml. The composition may be in a form for enteral administration, preferably in the form of a suppository, which may be in a unit dosage of 0.1 to 25mg of the cross-linked orgotein. The cross-linked orgotein may have a molecular weight of up to 500,000. The watersoluble protein may be orgotein, a globulin or an albumin, preferably serum albumin, most preferably human serum albumin. The orgotein may be cross-linked to 1 or 2 serum albumin molecules, preferably with 1 molecule of human serum albumin. The orgotein may be cross-linked by not more than 5 bridging groups. In the Examples orgotein is cross-linked with (1) glutaraldehyde (3) bis(diazobenzidine), (4) (5) dimethyl suberimidate dihydrochloride, (2) to bovine serum albumin with glutaraldehyde. |
