<p>1446506 Carbon black production CONTINENTAL CARBON CO 10 April 1974 [16 April 1973 12 Sept 1973 29 Nov 1973] 15964/74 Heading C1A [Also in Division F4] Apparatus for the production of carbon black comprises (Fig. 2) a first (inner) pipe 5 and second (outer) concentric pipe 7 defining a first annulus 2 for the passage of atomizing air; (2) means for introducing air into said annulus; (3) means 9 associated with the first annulus for imparting a strong swirling motion to said atomizing air; (4) first (inner) and second (outer) annular concentric rings 11a and 11b fixed to the downstream ends of said first and second concentric pipes, respectively, said rings defining a converging annulus which directs the airstream in a generally hollow, frusto-conical, divergent pattern; (5) a third pipe 19 concentrically disposed within said first pipe, defining a second annulus, the downstream end of said third pipe being affixed to said inner ring; (6) a plurality of holes 18a, in said inner ring, leading from said second annulus into said converging annulus at points downstream from said convergence; (7) means for introducing fuel oil to said holes; (8) a tubular carbon black feedstock assembly (Fig. 1) inserted through the centre of the third pipe.</p> |
