1449804 Digoxin derivatives BOEHRINGER MANNHEIM GmbH 9 April 1975 [13 April 1974 12 July 1974] 14596/75 Heading C2U The invention comprises a process for preparing 22-(C 1-4 alkyl) digoxins, by dissolving digoxin (in which the 3111 and 4111-hydroxyl groups are optionally protected) in a strongly polar aprotic solvent (e.g. DMF or dimethyl sulphoxide), reacting with an alkyl iodide in the presence of NaH, and where necessary removing the protecting group(s). 22-Methyldigoxin 3111,4111-acetonide is prepared as an intermediate in the above process.
