1485795 Nibbling SANWA SEIKI KK 20 Dec 1974 [21 Dec 1973] 55282/74 Heading B4B [Also in Division B3] In a hand-held nibbler, a piston 5 carrying a blade 54 is mounted for relative reciprocation in a support 6 which also carries a fixed blade 63 and is connected to the tool body B by a ring 66 which can be loosened to allow rotation of the support 6. Since the blade 54 is eccentrically mounted on the piston rotation of the support rotates the blade so that the direction of cut can be varied without moving the tool body. The support is held in the desired angular position by engagement of a pin of the tool body in a flange 65 of one support 6. The piston is reciprocated by a crank-shaft 1, driven via gears 2, 13 by an electric motor or other rotary drive, the crank-pin 14 engaging in a rectangular plate 3 slidable between portions (42), (43), Fig. 2 (not shown), of a guide 4 which has a groove (44) fitting closely about a coaxial extension 52 of the piston 5. A disc 53 secured to the extension 52 rests on guide portion 42. Alternative transmission means, Fig. 3 (not shown), comprise a semicylindrical guide (4<SP>1</SP>) and a disc (3<SP>1</SP>) which has an eccentric pin (31<SP>1</SP>) to engage in the guide (4<SP>1</SP>) and an eccentric hole to receive the crank-pin (14).
