An installation for operating battery driven vehicles, in particular, those running on fixed routes in built up areas. It consists of a battery charging post used at night and placed in a garage. This can be used whenever the vehicle is available for battery charging. The installation can also be used at any point where it is possible to halt long enough to make some battery charging worth while. This enables a battery operated vehicle system to be operated at minimum cost. The application is intended mainly for public transport systems with reasonably flexible routes, avoiding pollution caused by internal combustion engines.
