Asynchronous delta modulator with run length coder - has buffer memory in feedback circuit between comparator and predictor

The asynchronous delta modulator n1) is used for adaptive analog/digital conversion. It performs the conversion by comparing the analog input with a predictor output and by using the result of the comparison to decide the polarity of the output. The comparator output feeds a run-length coder and a buffer memory. The run-length coder is located in the delta demodulator feedback circuit between the comparator output and the input of the predictor. The delta modulator output signals are thereby converted into a synchronous continuous data sequence.
