Coating compsn., suitable for coating transparent plastics films so that they can be provided with permanent written and printed markings and are suitable for the prodn. of slides and masters for printing plate mfr., consist of a mixt. of a vinyl (vinyl acetate/vinyl chloride) copolymer as binder; a phthalate, adipate, sebacate or short-oil alkyl resin plasticiser in 1:1.5-3.5 ratio to the binder; a white pigment, e.g. TiO2, ZnO or lithopone, opt. mixed with a small amt. of a phthalocyanine dyestuff a solvent, e.g. MEK methylisobutylketone, Cellosolve acetate (RTM), ethylacetate, etc., a diluent, e.g. xylene or toluene, an inert filler, e.g. amorphous SiO2, kaolin or CaCO3; and a aliphatic amine as dispersant. The compsns. are suitable for providing a wide range of synthetic org polymers films, esp. polyesters, with almost transparent white or pale blue coatings, which adhere well and have the required microporosity on the outer surface. Very clear and sharp prints can be obtd. The compsn. pref. also contains an optical brightener. |
