The yarn for each system is supplied from yarn store drums on a common carrier ring with a control disc to carry the belt drive to groups of yarns from a drive source. The control disc is driven in a selected direction by the power supply. The control disc can rotate in the direction determined by the drive source through its rotary mounting on a carrier ring. Two freely-rotating deflecting rollers are located near the mounting to hold the drive belt against a selected segment of the control disc according to the required direction of drive. The control disc is driven by a belt from the power source. The design allows the knitter to work yarns with left or right twists, without modifying the knitter components.
