摘要 <p>The battery charging circuit, for charging a vehicle battery from household mains, consists of a transformer whose primary is coupled to the AC supply and whose secondary is connected via a rectifier to the battery. The secondary winding is divided into two parts, the first part is connected via a 4-diode rectifier to the battery, and the second extra part (12b) is connected to one corner of the rectifier bridge and to two thyristors (19, 20) in parallel with the bridge output. This extra part of the secondary is switched in by the thyristors to increase the charging voltage applied to the battery.</p>
