<p>Tensioner is for vehicles whose fan belt bends between two perpendicular planes. The wheel (13) is on the end of an arm (31) which pivots on a pin (33). The pin is attached to a plate (35) which has lugs (37, 39) by which it is fixed to the brackets on the cylinder block. The wheel carries a bar (49) which has a downturn flange acted on by a spring (47) whose other end abuts on a fixed flanged bracket (45) below the support plate (35). A stud (51) turning in a block (41) on the support plate (35) moves the pivoting arm (31) and with it the wheel (13) against the tensioning spring (47). The pivoting arrangement makes replacement and tensioning of the fan belt simple and fine adjustment easier.</p> |
