1485381 Bearings TIMKEN CO 3 Sept 1974 [18 July 1973] 34315/73 Heading F2A A roller assembly (Fig. 1) comprises a single row tapered roller bearing mounted in the bore of an annular tyre 2 which constitutes the roller, the bearing being retained in position by an inwardly directed shoulder 12 at one end of the bore and a sleeve 6 formed on the tyre at the other end and which initially extended axially and has been deformed radially inwards. An abutment ring 5 may be included, and may carry an 0-ring seal 24 or a wiper seal. In a further embodiment (Fig. 7), the sleeve initially has a conical outer surface (Fig. 4) which after deformation becomes cylindrical so that a backup ring 17 can be fitted. |
