Resin-bonded artificial stone blocks continuously produced - from two premixtures combined in final mixing chamber

A method of continuously producing artificial bricks, slabs or panels from inorganic materials, esp. quartz dust, quartz sand, or powdered slate together with an addition of resin and catalyst, is as follows. Two preliminary mixing vessels and a final mixing vessel are used. In one preliminary mixing vessel the inorganic materials are mixed with resin, while in the second preliminary mixing vessel the inorganic materials are mixed with the catalyst; both these premixtures are then introduced into the final mixing chamber, in which a rotary mixing paddle or the like completes mixing. From the final mixing chamber, the mixture is fed into moving moulds mounted on a conveyor belt or the like, which transports them through the hardening furnace, after which the blocks or bricks are removed. The may then be subjected to further heat treatment. A stiff mix containing a high proportion of inorganic materials can be handled, giving bricks or blocks of high strength which, on account of the low resin content, bear a great resemblance to natural stone.
